Outings this week

Tons of outings in this week's e-mail! Also, Sam Cooper '08 (scooper@wes) may have one of the best e-mail addresses at Wesleyan, second only to Eric Mosinger '08 (emosinger@wes).

ANNUAL OPEN HOUSE/ICE CREAM EXTRAVAGANZA
Come on over to Outhouse to check out the gear and library, maybe pay some club dues (which'll get you unlimited gear rentals for the year) or get a sweet WOC t-shirt, and of course hang out in the kitchen and eat ice cream. Thursday night, 8-10 pm at Outhouse, 132 High Street. No need to rsvp, just drop in and say hi.

THE BEST CAMPOUT EVER!!
Gather up your mandolins, guitars, harmonicas, and roastin' sticks, and join us for a one-night romp in Pachaug State Forest (eastern CT). We'll do some hiking, swimming, and get a little break from campus. This is going to be a classic overnight camping trip. Bring warm clothes, somethin' to hike in, a sleeping bag, your favorite songbook, and a car (seriously). We'll cook dinner and breakfast in the woods so let us know if you're joining us. Depending on interest, we can bring some boats along. Meet at Outhouse at noon on Saturday. We'll be back Sunday late morning-ish. For those of you ringin' in the New Year, we'll be sure to eat some apples and honey too! Email lfshapiro@wesleyan.edu by Friday at the latest.

DURHAM FAIR
Come along and experience this fall Connecticut classic. On the docket for Friday afternoon is the lawn-mower race and the tractor pull, and we'll also be able to check out the livestock barns, craft and produce exhibitions, carnival rides, live music, and delicious fair food. There are more details at www.durhamfair.com. We'll meet at Outhouse at 2 pm, return time is flexible depending on how many cars we have and what people want to do. Keep in mind that admission is $12, so a little pocket change'll come in handy. Please email ecpalmer@wesleyan.edu to rsvp.

HIGH HILL ORCHARD
Come out and enjoy the season! Go apple picking at High Hill Orchards on Saturday. You can also pick pears and raspberries. This orchard is smaller than Lyman's, organic, and is a beautiful place to walk around for a while. If you want to go on this outing come to Outhouse (132 High Street) on Saturday at noon. Please bring a car if you have one, so that we can get everyone there who wants to go (it's only about a 10 minute drive). Email scooper@wesleyan.edu if you are interested.

WADSWORTH FALLS BIKE RIDE
Need a break from the stresses of civilized life? Want to be awed by the raw power of nature? Saturday join us on a short bike ride to Wadsworth Falls, one of Connecticut's largest waterfalls. Once we've finished admiring the cataract (Niagara can't compare!) the park has lots of trails to explore and lots of water to mess around in. Meet at the Outhouse at 2 pm. Please email nlichten@wesleyan.edu if you're interested.

BACKPACKING OVER FALL BREAK!!
Outhouse will be leading at least one overnight backpacking trip during fall break across the scenic mountains of New England. Specific details will be available in next week's mailing. Get psyched.

When you post these outing listserv things, might I suggest you take a sec and edit the e-mail addresses to "at" instead of "@" to save these poor, outdoorsy souls unfortunate amounts of spam?
