In dorms, men and women now room together! :O
The Christian Science Monitor recently published an article "In dorms, men and women now room together" about gender-neutral housing - except it just calls such living options "co-ed rooms."
The article tends to emphasize convenience, generally reinforcing the gender binary, and plays down some other important issues - such as transgendered and other queer students feeling uncomfortable or unsafe being paired with a roommate of the same biological sex. However, I still give props to the Christian Science Monitor for bothering to look at gender-neutral housing and trying to do so in an open-minded fashion.
Roommates Janet Dewar '09 and Matt Danzig '09 are pictured and quoted in the article.
