Outings this week
OCEAN
Wesleyan a bit too far inland for your tastes? The Connecticut River not quite cutting it? Miss smelling that sweet sweet sea breeze? Put some salt air back in your hair this Sunday at noon with a trip to kiss the Atlantic Ocean at Hammonasset State Park. Bring a swimsuit (or not!) to run in the water and run back out VERY QUICKLY because it's gonna be freakin' cold. Blankets and dry clothes for afterward will be key. Or if you're too chicken, bring frolicking apparatus: frisbees, kites, whatever, and just have fun on the beach. A picnic lunch might be nice... or a thermos of hot chocolate. Email elauriat(at)wesleyan.edu to RSVP or if you have any questions. Bring a car if you have one.
CALLING ALL EMTS PART 2 ...
There will most likely be a wilderness EMT module arranged for this spring semester. Here's a little info on the module:
- It is a 45 hour class for currently certified EMTs most likely held over 2 weekends
- It is EXCELLENT if you are looking for a job in outdoor ed, or leading outdoor trips. The WEMT is the highest level of wilderness medical certification (higher than the WFR)
- The 45 hours count for national registry continuing education credits
- Price will depend on how much funding we get from the WSA and how many people sign up
