Our friends from Williams over at House of Procrastination found this gem of a piece in the latest issue of Seventeen. Check out the "jerk alert."

I don't understand how this works. Did a seventeen "reporter" just call random college guys until she reached one stupid enough to proclaim his skeeziness to the world?

well, luckily for this guy, nobody in school reads seventeen....too bad EVERYBODY reads wesleying:-/

and it's oh-so-lovely that Seventeen has 13 year olds as it's main target market...really giving them a great impression of A) college life in general, B) college guys (though perhaps Ryan's attitude is more common than we would like to acknowledge) and C) Wes in particular...

someone explain to me why, exactly, it is considered so surprising that a frat brother is out for quick hook ups?

i dont think they are frat brothers

Well, regardless of whether we're talking about frat brothers or not... a college boy looking for a quick hook up? Not like I'm going to fall off my desk chair in shock.

i think every male has the jerk alert programmed into their brains. let's be honest... whats the point of "dressing smart" or "staying classy" anyways? to get into her pants of course.

It says "Get ready to party with cute guys like these!" up in the top right corner. Is that supposed to be sarcastic?

Anonymous said...

to the person above: after way too many years of reading those, i'm pretty sure that it is not sarcastic at all (also, those words are referring to the guys in the picture, not the "wesleyan jerk")

Are you serious? The college kid that says he's not looking for a hook up is lying!!! His honesty is what is freaking everybody out. At least he's honest.
