It's election time! Vote for us for Best Alternative Media Outlet
Is it tacky to make a post on a blog, telling its readers to vote for that blog? Well, if so, too bad.
A "Brian" tips in at the Wesleying Shoutbox that it's time for the second annual "Best Alternative Media Outlet" award by US News and World Report. Wesleying won last year, but at the time of writing, Wesleying only has 3% of the vote this time around!
Columbia's "Bwog" is at 35% and U. Michigan's "College: On the Record" (OTR) has 50%. We all know Wesleying probably really is the best student blog (and college alternative media outlet) out there, so get to it!

I'm betting votes from your IP after the first don't count. You could vote from home and then again from school, though.
We're up to 13%. This post is not shameless, and should be at the top of the page, at least for a few days (if we want to win, that is).
Also, Michigan is a much bigger school that all the others (Except UW), which naturally increases their voting support block, so if they win, it won't really count (in my mind).

also ivygate caters to the ENTIRE ivy league? Cornell and Harvard might as well be state schools in size.
"Off The Record" blogs are formulaic. Picture with a shape and text placed on it with photoshop, two tiny paragraphs to justify making a worthless post, unanswered request for readers to share their experiences.
Don't worry guys, we will win this poll. I can't let bastards I know from HS who go to now Mich-U or Columbia take this one. In fact I'll make sure that they don't ... just wait, it's time to stick it to U.S News & Report. Hell if they rig the rankings, it's okay for me to rig their little web poll.

I don't think it's fair to assume that was voter fraud. There's high traffic late night at Wesleying, and readers are enthusiastic. Maybe a few people voted twice, but assuming that everyone is scamming the polls is jumping to conclusions

If someone was going to try to stack the votes they could do a lot better than 250 in 10 minutes...
They could also just make it so you could only vote once from an IP address, which is what every other online poll I've ever seen has done.

This poll reminds me of high school without weighted grades, and Michigan reminds me of that average kid who took band, chorus and gym each semester but no AP classes, just so he could scrape an undeserved valedictorian.
Having a huge school on the ballot was the first instance of a broken voting system, but U.S. News didn't talk about that.
Also, it is worth noting that I was the elated anon 9:20, and not the shady anon 6:51. Those were two different people. Taking anonymous comments seriously is as stupid as believing that the post at 5:38 is actually from Roth. Which it obviously was, U.S. News, so write about it.
Perhaps more noteworthy is that U.S. News eats bags of dicks. Their whole racket is ranking things on a linear scale, when no such scale can actually exist. No we've mocked the process by which they're attempting to rank us, and they're throwing a pissy little fit.
