We are Oberlin. Cheesy

Oberlin is having some issues with its new slogan. Slogan? Yeah.

Some Obies say the unabashedly cheesy "change the world" line was what attracted them to the school and worry that "fearless" will appeal to a less socially conscious crowd. They already believe younger students are becoming too Banana Republic, too reluctant to ride a unicycle at the Friday drunkfests on the green.
The entire situation calls to mind the Independent Ivy debacle at Wes a few years back:
Wesleyan University adopts new marketing slogan: "Wesleyan, the Independent Ivy." Objecting students plaster campus with homemade signs: "Reebok, the Independent Nike," "Hydrox, the Independent Oreo," "R.C., the Independent Coke."
In other news, I propose unicycles at Friday drunkfests on Foss Hill.

Thanks, Suzanne!

You know things are bad when the kids as Wesleyan are making fun of you...

I don't think wes kis are making fun of oberlin. I, at least, am sympathizing with them. I really liked the "think one person can change the world? so do we." slogan.

Or more accurate:

we are wesleyan: we get you with our deflated hippie reputation and then sell you to J.P. Morgan.

Anonymous @ 2:37, I don't know if that one will help sell Wesleyan to prospective students. :-P

Is there anyone else on campus who can ride (and does own) a unicycle? Or am I the only one?
