Kennedy Diagnosed with Malignant Brain Tumor

As of 1:15 this afternoon, the Associated Press is reporting that Senator Kennedy was diagnosed earlier today with a malignant brain tumor in his left parietal lobe. According to the brief report, treatment (which will be fine-tuned after more tests) will probably include radiation and chemotherapy. However, the senator has not suffered any further seizures and is "resting comfortably."

Still no word from the administration on whether Senator Kennedy will be speaking at commencement (probably because they are waiting to be able to make a statement one way or the other.) Meanwhile, we at Wesleying send our best to Kennedy and his family here and elsewhere.

I've been watching TV in Boston, where they have taken over all of the major channels to have non-stop coverage of this. I've heard two things re: his next few days. They mentioned that in the last few days, he kept mentioning that he wanted to leave the hospital because he did not want to miss the events that he had scheduled. However, that coverage was, of course, heresay. On the other hand, the vice-chairman of the hospital just (1:09PM) released information saying that they are going to keep him there for "a few more days". Also, it's a malignant glioma, so it doesn't looks very good in general.

Really sad stuff.

Conspiracy theory in 3...2..

clearly VDS activated a latent cell mass in Ted Kennedy's left parietal lobe so he would conveniently miss spreading his liberal message of peace and love at graduation

Sorry to hear about his disease but Ted Kennedy is a piece of crap. Mary Jo Kopechne must be smiling in heaven

Yes I'm sure people in heaven often get a kick out of the suffering and diseased here on earth. Heaven is full of spite and ill-will.

I had a family friend with the same disease and I am afraid the chances of his outliving it are rather slim.

I'm saddened by this. :( Also,

@5:58 thanks, but I won't post sensitive information from an anon source unless its citing something or offers some sort of basis for its hint. I can't speak for other wesleying bloggers though.

I thought we already knew that Kennedy was an illiberal kind of guy?
