THE BAND'S VISIT
2007. Israel. Dir: Eran Kolirin. With Sasson Gabai, Ronit Elkabetz. 87 min.
Stranded in the Israeli boondocks, an uptight Egyptian police band must kill time with the townies until their bus arrives. This Jarmuschi-ian film treats cross-cultural hospitality and social awkwardness with an unexpected dry, sharp wit.
