New Argus Site Online

The Argus launched an impressively revamped website this week, with a fresh new layout, comment capabilities, an automated Wespeak submission form, and even a blog featuring online-only content, the aptly named Blargus.

Already the Blargus has a style column harking back to the heyday of Well Dressed Wes, an economic analyst, and a lively political debate involving campus conservative Mytheos Holt. I'm curious to see what else will come from this expansion of the non-zero-sum game of online Wesleyan media. Looks good, Argus.

wow, this site is really poorly organized. there are pictures and text everywhere. not professional at all. their old site was so much better.

how do you access the archives?

and yeah, the front page is a little messy.

Their old site looked like it was made in '99.

You must live in the stone age. The old website was terrible. This new layout is WAY cleaner and much more presentable. Thumbs up to whoever worked on the new design; I love the layout and the comment capabilities. Finally, something the Argus can be proud of. The physical school newspaper on the other hand, still looks quite poorly in print.

Oh, and by the way, coming from a graphic design and visual artist...

The only thing I suggest is outlining "The Wesleyan Argus" in black, so that the title stands out a little more. The headline of the website should pop and be noticed, and not melt in with the rest of the mini links in only white.

So please put a slight black outline on the title header. The rest of it looks great!

this site, and the argus itself, is an embarrassment to wesleyan. i was just searching online and virtually all of our peers (swarthmore, vassar, yale) have better newspaper in terms of both content and web style. we need new newspaper leadership.

hey guys. the paper is entirely student produced. if you think it should be better, join and make it better.

1:16 and 12:09 — I understand what you're saying. The current front page design was the result of trying to dynamically display arbitrary numbers of articles with and without photos. It (clearly) didn't work out as well as I'd hope, but we're going to be cleaning up the home page so that it's more organized and easy to use.

2:44 — Swarthmore and Yale both have beautiful sites. Princeton's is also nice. I can't speak for the content (although I generally agree with 7:22), but we have a much bigger team behind the website now and the ability the update the site, and the design, much more quickly and easily. I wouldn't expect the site to stand still.
