For anyone still on campus and planning on having a delicious dinner at Red & Black Café, beware: your options are limited. They've got no soups and no grill, so basically you can get a turkey or tuna sandwich.
Also, they will not be open as scheduled tomorrow, due to the impending snowstorm.
If you're on campus, you may notice that snow fell overnight. Most of it's washed away by the rain, but the first signs of winter have finally come. Frosh, get ready to slide your ass off down Foss hill.
The good news: we're supposed to get another inch or two of snow tonight.
The bad news: It's supposed to be followed by sleet, freezing rain, and/or normal rain.
Connecticut winter strikes again!
... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from midnight tonight to
1 PM EST Sunday...
The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Winter Weather
Advisory... which is in effect from midnight tonight to 1 PM EST
Sunday.
Snow is expected to develop across the area late this evening.
Then as warmer air moves in aloft... the snow will mix with and
then change to sleet late tonight... and then change to freezing
rain by early morning Sunday. Freezing rain is expected to
continue through early afternoon... before changing to plain rain.
The period of heaviest precipitation will be Sunday morning
through Sunday afternoon. 1 to 2 inches of total combined snow
and sleet accumulation are expected before any changeover... and
then an additional 2 to 4 tenths of an inch of ice accumulation is
possible before precipitation changes to rain.
In addition... northeast winds could gust as high as 30 mph Sunday
morning into the afternoon. The gusty winds could knock down some
ice covered power lines and overhanging limbs... resulting in power
outages.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

Warning... which is in effect from 10 am to 11 PM EST Thursday.
Snow is expected to develop from southwest to northeast across
interior portions of the lower Hudson Valley and southern
Connecticut Thursday morning. Periods of moderate to heavy snow
are then expected Thursday afternoon... .tapering off by Thursday
evening.
Heavy snow during the mid-afternoon will result in 4 to 6
inches... and total accumulations are expected to range from 8 to
10 inches by the time the storm ends.
A Heavy Snow Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast
that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If
you must... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency.
