Magic? I haven't played that shit since middle school

Hey everybody! Jared Gimbel '11 and others are starting a Magic: The Gathering Pentagon league at Wes. Pentagon is semi-casual, semi-competitive, and open to anyone who wants to join. The first meeting will be held on the first weekend of school (times to be determined), with events running throughout the semester. Interested? Email jgimbel at wes for more information.
As a sidenote, any prospective students who used to play Magic should bring any cards they have. It's a great way to bond with your hallmates, who more than likely used to play too, and are probably just as embarrassed as you are about the fact that you still known how to play.

Awesome.
are you kidding me....
oh god, seriously?
lame. ADP. lame.
Hey 10:36 and 10:50--
Eat a dick.
Let people enjoy what they want. Why is it lame to take pleasure playing a game? Why does it matter that it uses phrases like elves, mana, and spells?
By the way, in case you're coming for me, watch the fuck out. I'm a 4/4 with trample, bitch.
NERDS
I love nerdiness and am in full support of it in every form. People need to leave nerds the fuck alone. It's totally cool if you're not interested, but god. I doubt a lot of your pastimes are much more worthwhile or valid than this one.
Jessica, you are a NERD.
"It's a great way to bond with your hallmates, who more than likely used to play too"
Without weighing in on the value or lack thereof re: Magic, I have to say that I think that saying that its "more than likely" that your hallmates used to play is probably overstating the case.
10:50: Jared is not associated with ADP, so I don't know where that comment came from...
I'm comin' for you bitches!
1:53: thank you. so much.
This is so weird. I've basically gone through this whole week (or all of last week, really) with so many people asking people, "Hey, do you remember Magic: The Gathering?"
PERHAPS I AM FATED TO PLAY AGAIN!!!!111one!!!
Estrella, where I come from, there is no one, no one, who was not in some way touched by Magic the Gathering
9:23 My friends and I only knew about Magic b/c people joked about it on TV. Maybe it was more popular in some areas than others?
anyone remember Pogs?
anyone else have a white deck
10:32, you are opening up a can of worms.
(I did, but it was my secondary deck)
There were five of us who used to play during Band, back in middle school. Anytime the woodwind section wasn't playing music, half of us were playing Magic. Baron Sengir was the tits.
I'm totally in favor of nerdiness, but Magic is dangerous. A bunch of my friends started playing again this summer and spend like 20 - 40 dollars a week on cards. That shit's like crack.
9:32: I had pogs! Only for like 45 seconds in third grade, but I totally went there. And then promptly forgot all about it when Tamogachis came out.
And Digimon, before they were a cartoon - when they were tamogachis that battled. That shit was sweet.
oh boy. honestly, can't wait. That shit is fun, don't hate.
I bonded hugely with a fifth grader last year when I offered to play magic with him. he basically shit his pants with excitement that I knew how to play.
this summer, he thinks magic is dumb.
my brother was an excellent magic player. he also was a really good golfer, tennis player, and likes shiny things, money, and polo clothes now. magic wasn't/isn't only for nerds. he still plays every now and then with my cousin who is a social, soccer playing-graphic designer with a bad temper, and also happens to have one of the sickest black decks this side of the mana pool.
this is perfect, my homarids JUST molted!
mtg ftw!!
