WesLAN Party!

WesLAN--Wesleyan's premier (and only) LAN gaming organization-is kicking the pants off of 2008 with our first LAN party of the year this Saturday (9/20) starting at 1pm in Usdan 110.

We will be probably be playing primarily FPS and RTS games if last year is any indication, (although we're open to suggestions!). We will provide any software necessary [though a Steam account is a handy thing to have].

Bring yourself, your computer [and anything it needs, like power cables and a mouse], and any power strips and LAN cables that you have.

We have the room 'till 11:45--come join us for an hour or for the whole day!

If you have any questions, contact Seth Rosen '10 [sirosen@wes], Aaron Izakowitz [aizakowitz@wesl], or Sam DeFabbia-Kane [sdefabbiakan@wes] or come check out our forums at http://www.WesLANforum.com or our table at the student activities fair on Friday--we'll have a small LAN set up.

Magic? I haven't played that shit since middle school

Hey everybody! Jared Gimbel '11 and others are starting a Magic: The Gathering Pentagon league at Wes. Pentagon is semi-casual, semi-competitive, and open to anyone who wants to join. The first meeting will be held on the first weekend of school (times to be determined), with events running throughout the semester. Interested? Email jgimbel at wes for more information.

As a sidenote, any prospective students who used to play Magic should bring any cards they have. It's a great way to bond with your hallmates, who more than likely used to play too, and are probably just as embarrassed as you are about the fact that you still known how to play.

Sales of Red Bull will skyrocket: LAN parties!

Seth Rosen '10 is itchin' for a good LAN party, and hopes you're itchin' to party with him. Seth writes:

After a full year at Wesleyan, I've been pretty disappointed by the level of activity of gamers on campus. So, I'm looking to change that. Somewhere down the road, we'll be holding LAN parties and playing together online on a regular basis. But there are a few intermediary steps.

Let's get organized! If you have any interest in attending/helping to plan such events (maybe establish a student group), join up at Facebook or email sirosen@wes (Facebook is preferred because it's simply easier to keep track of, etc).

Not much else to say—if you love videogames, and want to play them with other people who love videogames in a hot room into the wee hours, then click the above link, or shoot me an email. Either way, let's get this show on the road.
