Practical Self-Defense Demonstration at ADP

Jeff Cubeta '10 sends us word of a self defense workshop at ADP:

Instead of focusing on how to beat up someone once an engagement has started, we're going to analyze self defense from a preventative position. Topics will include, situational awareness, what to do when confronted with violence, avoiding violent situations as a whole.Our guest speaker Robert Wise will be joining us from West Philadelphia, where his own experience with unsafe conditions will help inform the demonstration. It's important to stress that this isn't a kung fu lesson; rather, our focus is on recognizing, avoiding and escaping dangerous situations.

Ska/Punk Showcase at ADP

To all the rude boys and girls who read this blog, Alpha Delta Phi's gonna have a couple bands pumping the sweet sweet sounds of Ska into the grotto this friday and you are all invited. So put on your three-peice suit and checkerboard sneakers and spend your friday night pickin it up to the horn-cranked tunes of CT natives Johnny Nine and the Racers and SUNY Purchase imports The Wendels. It'll be a skankin' good time.

Blacklight Party at ADP

Max Rodriguez '10 sends us word of a blacklight dance party at ADP:

This saturday, ADP will be hosting a furniture-is-in-the-garage dance party...with blacklights! Come and dance to great music (there will be a DJ, who is yet to be determined) and boogie til the break of dawn as your teeth GLOW. There will be non-alcoholic refreshments.

Strategy Games at ADP

Becca Martin '10 sends words of strategy games at ADP:

Come indulge in a day of your favorite strategy games at ADP (the kind you play on boards, not computers). Monopoly, Risk, Settlers of Catan, etc, etc. Feel free to bring your own games (including extra copies of the ones mentioned).

Everyone is invited! More people = more games = more fun!

There will be snacks.

Folk Music At Alpha Delt

Like old-timey folk jams? Come hear two fantastic performers, Helen Russell and David Lutken, play on the porch of ADP and talk about the presence of folk music in society today.

Helen and David both hail from the 4-star-awarded Edinburgh Fringe Festival hit of 2007, Woody Sez, about the life and music of Woody Guthrie, which leaves the US next week on an international tour. Hear them play some Guthrie and some of their own fun stuff as well.
