And yet, there will be no beer.

The puritanism of the United States is ridiculous.

Or maybe other students will be uncomfortable and this is a college dining hall not a bar?

I'm not suggesting that beer is a necessary component of this event. But, to suggest—as Anonymous @ 12:10 PM has—that the presence of beer would make non-drinking students uncomfortable, is preposterous.

Do non-drinkers avoid restaurants because they might serve a Bud to the table across the room? I hope not.

I know people who would be uncomfortable with the presence of beer in a dining hall--only one or two, maybe, but it's not a completely preposterous suggestion.

well they should get the fuck over it. honestly. No one is pouring beer down their throats. Let other people make their own decisions.
