It's a term used in Hawaii. It doesn't necessarily mean half Asian it just means half or mixed ethnicity.

just wanted to add that there's lots of debate on the usage of the word hapa by asian americans and i am wondering why you specifically decided to use the world "hapa" here, especially in a context outside of hawai'i? its important to think about what asian americans have to gain by appropriating this hawaiian term and how this appropriation is connected to the non-hawaiian ownership of hawai'i, and the consequential erasure of native hawaiians.

I liked the video a lot. It did look at potentially superficial areas but they are worth exploring. This is especially true because there isn't a large half community, so others (like me) don't have the vaguest idea of what other half-asians think of basic (superficial?) things. Anyways, thanks for the video.

i'm half asian and still only know a handful of half asian on campus. i wish there were ways we could casually bump into one another. i can't just look for other people who sometimes seem awkward at the asian events.

webster defines race: a class or kind of people unified by shared interests, habits, or characteristic.
Jews are a race due to their interests being money accumulation and world domination, their habits of eating big crackers and wearing funny hats, and their hook-nose characteristics. Glad I could put this to rest.

jews don't seem like a race because 1. it's primarily a religion, and 2. their country is so new, and all other races have homes that date back so far that we just associate being from that place with being that race - think about it. i guess you could refer to the jewish race as the hebrews, but who would do that.

12:50 - Judaism is also a culture, not just a religion. As a culture, Judaism therefore shares characteristics with "race".
Also, arguing that "their country is so new, and all other races have homes that date back so far that we just associate being from that place with being that race" ... can you please explain the breakdown of the Soviet Union and all the nationalist groups within that proudly defend (and rightly so) their "own races"? Their "homelands" are much "newer" than Israel.
