Who cares who slept with Emily Dickinson?

Tim Devane '09, a member of the English Majors Committee, wants to let everyone know about a lecture being hosted tonight:

Tonight at 8:00 pm at Russell House, The English Majors committee is proud to host Christopher Benfey, Mellon Professor of English at Mount Holyoke College, who will give a lecture entitled: "WHO CARES WHO SLEPT WITH EMILY DICKINSON: Reflections on Literary Biography"

Benfey is an esteemed authority on modern and early 20th-century American Literature. His reviews have been published in the New York Time Sunday Book Review and The New Republic. He has also contributed criticism to the on-line magazine Slate and Travel + Leisure. His recent publications include A Summer of Hummingbirds (Penguin 2008) andThe Great Wave (Random House 2003).

First Tuesday: John Basinger

Every first Tuesday of the month, Broad Street Books hosts a featured poet and an open mic. Come to March's First Tuesday this Tuesday, March 3rd.

The featured poet this month will be John Basinger. According to Broad Street's Brian Mitchard, "Best known for his performances of Milton's Paradise Lost, John is going to surprise us!"

Beta clothing drive: this week!

It's really really cold outside. And snowed a lot tonight. What if you didn't have a jacket to wear?

The Brothers of Beta Theta Pi are sponsoring a clothing drive this week, in order to collect and donate clothing for those in the Middletown area who can't stay warm this winter.

All clothing will be donated to the Eddy Homeless Shelter in Durham, CT on Friday March 6th.

Look for the red boxes in Wesshop, Pi cafe, the Science Center, Usdan, PAC, North College, and all dorms this week: March 2nd to March 6th.

It takes a few seconds to donate used clothing that you don't wear or doesn't fit you, it can mean survival to those who receive these donations. Please donate!
