Action-packed WSA meeting tonight at 7:00 PM

Tonight's WSA meeting promises to be a hardcore, action-packed, must-see event!

• Joe Bruno, Wesleyan's Vice President for Academic Affairs, will be talking about student concerns over drop/add and course access. There is talk about making changes to the drop-add process, and we invite all students who have an opinion (bad or good) about the current system to attend tomorrow night's meeting.
• The WSA will also be discussing two proposed resolutions at tomorrow night's meeting. The first relates to the proposal to build an Army Base at a greenfield location in Middletown. At last week's meeting, Mike Pernick '10, presented the WSA with a resolution that denounces the army's plans to build on that location and asks the Wesleyan administration to take a stand on the issue. The resolution was tabled last week and will be voted on at this week's meeting.
• The second resolution that will be discussed tomorrow concerns divestment. This resolution relates to another resolution that the WSA passed last April, which urged the Wesleyan Board of Trustees to divest from two companies that were manufacturing weapons being used in Iraq. The resolution tomorrow is being presented by Kathy Stavis '10, on behalf of Students for Ending the War in Iraq (SEWI). The resolution asks the Wesleyan Board of Trustees to vote on SEWI's specific divestment proposal by the end of the semester.
• Also, the first ten minutes of every WSA meeting are an open forum for student concerns. Any student or student group with any concern is invited to come and speak to the WSA during this time about any issue.

Drop/Add is ending!

Yeah, yeah, deadlines. It's time to commit to your classes or forever hold your peace (That or get a W, whatever).

Drop/Add ends tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 11:59pm. Get your last enrollment requests in. Also, if you withdraw from a course after this time, you get a big fat W on your transcript.

Tutorial forms (including senior thesis) have to be submitted to North College tomorrow by 5pm.

Our friend Heather Alderfer '02 at the registrar's office points you to the Wesmaps archive, where you can find helpful information such as building codes and the faculty portrait gallery. She also adds the following pointers:

General drop/add info:

• It opens at 8:30 tomorrow.
• If you want to take more than 4 credits, your adviser may raise your credit limit.

FAQs:

• You can change the grading mode and crosslisting (if available) in drop/add.
• Tutorials, including senior theses, are still done on paper forms which need to be turned in to the registrar's office (deadline: 5pm Feb. 6)
• POIs and Prereq override forms are not used during drop/add-- it is up to the instructor to let you in.
• You can enroll in the university even though you may have holds (you still need to clear your holds).
  
• You have to be on campus to enroll: if you are in a woodframe you have to come to campus or use VPN.

Student Forums

Here's another class option for you: Student forums. These don't appear on Wesmaps but are taken for credit. To register for a Student Forum, contact the Student Leader of the forum. Students enroll in Student Forums during the drop/add period. Signed forms must be turned in to the Registrar's Office. Enrollment limit is 15 per class.
