Adult B'nei Mitzvah Project

This project holds classes about Judaism throughout the year and culminates with a Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony in the spring. This is a great opportunity to explore your Jewish roots and what Judaism means to you. Classes start just after Thanksgiving Break, so if you're interested, contact Alex at ahartley@wes or call 615 289-1057 as soon as possible.

Tu B'shvat event this Friday

This Friday night at 9:00 at the Bayit, the Wesleyan Jewish Havurah will be having a Tu B'shvat seder! Tu B'shvat, a festival marking the "birthday" of trees, combines a ritual meal with tons of yummy fruits, nuts, and beverages with a discussion of ecological awareness. Everyone is welcome and the event is free.

Spiritual, musical Shabbat this Friday

Gabi Meyer will be leading a spiritual musical Shabbat this Friday. Gabi is a talented musician who works to integrate sacred music, movement, interactive meditations and chanting. He will be showing his movie about a Jewish Muslim Peace Project at the World Music Hall at 5:30, and his "Spiritual Journey for the Soul of Judaism" service will follow at 6:15. This is a musical experience not to be missed. As always, all are welcome to dinner at the Bayit after services.

Hanukkah/Chanukah candle-lighting

Jenny Ajl '10 wishes you a happy Hanukkah (even though I think it's more fun to spell it with a "C"). She also writes:

This year the Wesleyan Jewish Community will be hosting communal candle-lighting in different lounges and locations throughout campus. And yes, there will be chocolate gelt and dreidels. All are invited.
