Update: Check out this article on Girl Talk in the NYT. He's like, so hot right now.

Tickets are SOLD OUT, sorry stragglers. Find one of the many people who presumably bought 5 tickets apiece, if you haven't already.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I'm in Psi U ... definitely not true. I wish it was.

Anonymous said...

Doug? can it be???

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

what the fuck is the bacon field house????

For all those wondering (and not doing a google search), the Bacon Field House is where the indoor track (and the rock climbing walls, indoor tennis courts, extra basketball courts, etc) is in the Freeman Athletic Center. Its just past and to the right of the receptionist (so basically, across from the Hockey Rink).

This is NOT a Psi U event.

This is a Wesleyan Event.

It's for all members of the Wesleyan community to be a part of. Lets not waste time attributing this to a specific organization and experience it as it is clearly meant to be experienced: A night to celebrate Wesleyan Unity!

Girl Talk was totally the name of the band Stephanie has with Gina in Full House, where they sing "I Saw the Sign" in the talent show but Stephanie didn't practice enough and they blow.

Anonymous said...

girl talk is over. mashups are lame. suckers.

Anonymous said...

i agree just a bit... i think a lot of people are pretty sick of girl talk at this point, but it'll still be really fun and its a great cause!

Anonymous said...

for $5 it's cheaper than the halloween party, and probably at least twice as fun... who cares if girl talk is so last year... or two years ago...

I feel grumpy today:

1500 Field House capacity (?)
$5 five minimum donation
Ticket sales quadrupled
means: $/person = donation * 5

If the average donation is $6, this event will raise
$6 * 5 * 1,500 = $45,000
= approx. value one year Wesleyan tuition.

Now I know why those fundraising dinners have such high prices...
and I feel like a troll...
eh.

does wes only really mean you can't bring people from other schools, even if you bought a ticket? or is it possible to sneak people in?

Anonymous said...

There will be a lot of security, for many reasons, and you will need a WESID and your ticket to enter

Mark-

It's slightly more complicated than that. Money that can be generated instantaneously (Wesleyan made 45000 dollars in 4 hours this morning) doesn't have to be taken from the endowment, and can be used immediately for financial aid, which means that we can simultaneously gain interest on the money that we did not use while financing financial aid. It's not that much money, but making that much in a single day is pretty significant. It's also an advertisable event and a cool thing to put on for students.

I just worry that the Field House's acoustics are going to be awful.

does anyone know who/how to find someone that bought extra tickets?

Anonymous said...

ha: earning interest is so 2006.

Anonymous said...

Mark,

What exactly is your problem? That it raised too much money ... too little? That collectively, in small amounts I might add, Wesleyan students were able to great things while having fun AND being proud to be going to Wesleyan??? Frankly I don't really see a downside.

I hear that more than half of the people that bought tickets opted to give more than the minimum donation ... I am personally proud to go to a school that can see the bigger picture and realize that Wesleyan needs some help right now.

Great job Wesleyan!
