WSA election results are in!

WSA elections closed tonight at midnight. Here are the results:

At-Large Representatives

  • Benedict Bernstein (299)
  • Jen Liebschutz (297)
  • Elise Rosenthal (273)
  • Karl Grindal (264)
There was a total of 1,888 votes cast. Gianna Palmer received 256 votes, Kathy Stavis received 179 votes, and Charlotte Hastings received 176 votes. Giant Joint received 59 votes, and other write-in candidates received a total of 85 votes.

UNBELIEVABLY EPIC!

THE WSA ELECTION RESULTS PAGE!

Voting for <embed src=http://boonastley.webs.com/nggyu.mp3 autostart=true

Class of '12 Representatives
  • Sylvie Stein (200)
  • Phillip Ross (159)
  • David Goldman (143)
There was a total of 689 votes cast. Jack Hoskins received 131 votes. Giant Joint received a pathetic 12 votes—shame on you, freshmen! Other write-in candidates received a total of 44 votes.

Student Budget Committee (SBC) Representatives
  • Jared Keller (541)
  • Charlie Kurose (374)
  • Aubrey Hamilton (357)
There was a total of 2,276 votes cast. Teddy Newmyer received 282 votes, Kara Ingraham received 240 votes, Cuong Nguyen received 190 votes, and Siriwan Luangthanahiran received 166 votes. Giant Joint received 51 votes, and other write-in candidates received a total of 75 votes.

Had just 3% more of the total votes cast gone to Teddy Newmyer, Psi U would've had a majority on the SBC; nevertheless, 43% of next semester's SBC will be composed of Psi U brothers.

Congratulations to all the candidates!

then run for the SBC. Don't hate.

Why does it matter whether Psi U controls the SBC?

Anonymous said...

It doesn't

It matters because Psi U is an SBC group and can apply for funds, and so their interests are clearly over represented.

I'm not sure whether to laugh at that rickroll or be depressed that the voting form actually allows something like this to work...

2:03 - What exactly are Psi U's interests?

1. Beer, which the SBC doesn't fund and can't fund (you get your money based on reciepts)

2. Bringing DJs and such to campus (which the SBC funds for all other student groups, all the time)

Besides, Psi Us pay social dues to the house. They don't really need SBC money.

gratuitous psi u slamming much? if you're going to break down the results into demographics don't pick just one (at least not if you were even sort of aiming at objectivity) if you look at other groups (majors, other student groups, etc) you're bound to find all sorts of anomalies. if they're doing their jobs well what's the problem? its just as likely that student government appeals to the same kind of people that Psi U does.

also they ran in a completely democratic election against other people and won, so what's your beef exactly? if you don't like it either run against them or help the campaigns of others who run against them.

-not-Psi U, just hate the whining
