Spring Break Shuttle Service

Jen Liebschutz '11 of the WSA Transportation Committee writes in with information about Spring Break shuttle service:

Shuttles to and from New York and Boston will be running for March break, courtesy of Wesleyan Transportation Services and the WSA Transportation Committee.

They will leave Wesleyan at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 6th and will drop off at Grand Central Station in New York and South Station in Boston.

They will leave the same locations at 1:00 pm on Sunday, March 22nd to return to Wesleyan.

The cost is $20 each way and tickets can be purchased at the box office in Usdan. Tickets are on sale now through Tuesday March 3rd.

Winter Break bus tickets: $20 at box office

The WSA Transportation Committee will be running buses to and from Boston and New York for Winter Break:

The buses will leave Wesleyan on Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 10:00 AM and will leave Boston and New York on Monday, Jan. 19 at 3:00 PM.

In Boston, the buses will drop off and pick up outside of South Station, at 700 Atlantic Avenue. In New York, they will drop off and pick up outside of Grand Central Station, at the corner of 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue.

The cost is $20 each way, and tickets can be purchased at the Box Office located in Usdan starting Tuesday, Dec. 2 and running through Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Shuttles to Boston, NYC for Winter Break

Reminder: Tuesday is the last day to purchase tickets at the box office for Thanksgiving Break. The New York buses have sold out, but a few Boston tickets are still available.

Thanksgiving Break Buses

The WSA sends this friendly reminder that Wesleyan shuttle bus tickets to New York and Boston are selling now. Get 'em before they're gone.

Don't forget to buy your tickets for the Thanksgiving break buses to New York and Boston! Tickets can be purchased at the box office until Tuesday, November 18th, or until they are sold out. The cost is $20 each way. The New York bus goes to Grand Central Station and the Boston bus goes to South Station. The buses will leave Wesleyan on Tuesday, November 25th at 5:00 pm and will pick up at their respective locations at 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 30th.

This is a great, hassle-free alternative for getting to Boston or New York. Make your traveling this Thanksgiving break easier.

Buses to Boston and New York for T-giving

Make your travels a little easier this Thanksgiving Break! The WSA Transportation Committee is arranging for buses to transport students from Wesleyan directly to Boston and New York:

The WSA Transportation Committee is working on getting buses to run directly from Wesleyan to New York City and/or Boston on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 5:00 PM... The cost would be approximately $20. Please email wsa@wes if you're interested, and note the location you want to go to. The buses will only run if enough people express interest!

A note on transportation improvements

I'm on the committee that negotiated the changes. There is a lot more we want to do. We want to keep the price affordable. We want to add departure and return trips on Saturday. We want to add an early afternoon departure on Monday and a late night return on Sunday. We want to get weekend shuttles to Hartford's nightlife. Et cetera.

All of this can't happen at once, but it's not going to happen at all unless we show the administration how badly we want it and need it. They're going to be monitoring ridership from now until the end of the year to trace the impact of our improvements. If we don't show increased demand, we're not going to be in a position to bargain for the additional changes we want.

So here's our call to action: get on that bus! It's only $5 now, it runs down to New Haven at 6pm on Friday and comes back up from the train station at 4pm on Sunday. Sell out all the tickets at the box office so the administration has no choice but to add more departure times. If you want it, use it - even if it's not always the most convenient option. Because this isn't just about getting a cheap and easy ride down to New Haven - this is about sending a message to the administration. If we want change, we're going to have to work together to get it done. Four students sitting in a room with administrators is just not going to have the same impact as 500 students clamoring to get a seat on the shuttle to New Haven.

So don't drive, don't walk, don't swim. Ride. Send a message. Get the change you want.

Wesleyan Online Ride Board: Post, Ride, Smile

Tired of shelling out money to expensive cab companies? Fed up with hitchhiking? Want somebody to share the cost of gas? Need that map navigator? Or just know you want to get home this break?

Well, the WSA (in conjunction with EON + SAFT and made by ITS) has launched an Electronic Ride Board through the e-portfolio. We need that critical mass to post in order to make it helpful, and, if there's heavy use, expect even more improvements in the future.
